A full 11-member strong Russian team will take part in the Bocskai Memorial Tournament, which will be held in the second largest Hungarian city, Debrecen, in the heart of Hortobagy from the 9th to 14th of February.

The best Russian boxers, including medalists from the AIBA World Championships and finalists from the last Russian National Championships, completed a ten-day training session in Kislovodsk, Russia on January 21, where boxers gathered for the first time this year.

"It was a typical 'warm-up' gathering, with the boxers being gradually drawn into the training process after the New Year holidays," said Nikolay Khromov, head coach of the Russian team. "It is nice that despite the break, all the boxers are in good condition: This was confirmed by Aleksandr Akopyan, the head of the scientific group at the Boxing Federation of Russian, who assessed their functional and psychological statuses," Khromov said.

Nikolay Khromov has already selected the squad for the Bocskai Memorial Tournament. The Hungarian spectators will be able to see the best Russian boxers at the event, including reigning world champion Yegor Mekhontsev (91kg), former world champion Sergey Vodopyanov (57kg), reigning European champions David Ayrapetyan (48kg) and 20-year-old Leonid Kostylev (60kg) and AIBA World Championships silver and bronze medalists Andrey Zamkovoy (69kg) and Misha Aloyan (51kg).

New Russian champions Vislan Dalkhayev (54kg), Artem Chebotarev (75kg), rising star Nikita Ivanov (81kg), Niyaz Fayzullin (+91kg) and Russian Championships silver medalist Sergey Shigashev (64kg) will also compete in the team.

This year will be a very busy one for the Russian boxers since they will be hosting the European Men's Championships this year in Moscow. The European Championships team will be formed on the basis of the boxers' performance in international tournaments from February until April.
