AIBA forms the AIBA Olympic Compliance Committee for London 2012 | 23.07.2012 | The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has decided to form a special committee for the London 2012 Olympic Games called the "AIBA Olympic Compliance Committee". This formation has been approved by the AIBA Executive Committee on 8 July 2012 in Bangkok (Thailand).
The AIBA Olympic Compliance Committee will comprise the Chairman of the AIBA Disciplinary Commission, Mr Tom Virgets, an AIBA Executive Committee Representative, Mr Terry Smith and Ms Áine Power, AIBA Legal Manager.
Its duties will be to review all potential appeals related to violations of the AIBA Statutes and/or Bylaws, Disciplinary Code, Code of Conduct, ethical issues and other serious issues which may arise during the Olympic Games. After investigation, the Committee will make recommendations to the AIBA President for his final decision. However, violations of AIBA Technical & Competition Rules will not be subject to a review by this Committee.
