Exclusion of the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation | 13.08.2012 | At its meeting held on July 8 to 10, 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand, the AIBA Executive Committee took the decision to provisionally exclude the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation (KABF) from AIBA, this immediately after the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Due to the boycott of several KABF Board Members causing the failure of holding a board meeting to approve any issue for KABF to function properly including the election of a new president after the resignation of the former KABF president, AIBA took this matter very seriously as all the internal conflicts within KABF have been greatly damaging all boxing activities in Korea.
Therefore, in accordance with Article 11(1) of the AIBA Bylaws, KABF was called upon to organize elections for a new president no later than July 25, 2012. However, KABF has failed to organize these elections and therefore, in accordance with Article 11(2) of the AIBA Bylaws, is provisionally excluded from AIBA.
From now on and for the sake of boxing and the best interests of boxers in Korea, AIBA will work closely with the Korean Olympic Committee to establish a new National Federation in this country.
