New AIBA Technical and Competition Rules | 01.09.2008 | The new AIBA Technical and Competition Rules, which were approved at the AIBA Extraordinary Executive Committee meeting in Bejing, China on August 18 are now online.
The Technical and Competition Rules, which come into effect on September 1, include the following key changes:
- change of rounds from four of two minutes to three of three minutes (effective from January 1, 2009).
- removal of scoring jury
- change of weight categories for women and youth girls to be aligned more closely with men to feature 11 weight categories: 46 kg 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg and +81 kg (effective from January 1, 2009).
